Top 10 Rollerball Blends for Peace, Love, & Happiness

Essential oils are scientifically proven to calm, soothe, and relieve anxious thoughts. They can also support deep sleep, relaxation, and lift feelings of overwhelm and stress. I KNOW that we all need a little bit of help in all of those areas!

So today...I'm going to tell you all about my 10 favorite blends for peace, love, and happiness! But first...let's find out why rollerballs are so awesome.  

There are 5 things that happen when you make and use essential oil rollerballs:

1. Your oils last longer. 
You can create endless amounts of rollerballs with one bottle of oil. This is a great way to have one in your purse, one in the bathroom, one in the kitchen...you get the idea! 

2. Your oils are super effective. 
Using oils "neat" or straight out of the bottle is effective, but not always the most desirable way to apply oils. Diluting your oils with a carrier oil (fractionated coconut oil, jojoba, etc.) actually keeps them on your skin longer and decreases the evaporation rate. 

3. Your friends are happy.
I LOVE giving rollerball blends as gifts! If someone has never used oils before, rollerballs demystify the process. Roll here, roll here, roll here. Easy peasy. They might think they are just smelling good...but the emotional and health benefits are endless! 

4. Your life gets easier.
Rollerballs make everything with oils easier. Put them in your bag and you're out the door. No messy oils on your hands while you're out and about and need a quick application. When your kiddos need oils NOW, you don't want to be opening 3-4 bottles of oil to apply. Rollerballs to the rescue!

5. Your family is empowered. 
I love rollerballs because they are highly diluted and very safe for kids. My girls (ages 3, 6, and 11) all have their own rollerballs that they carry with them. They use them for emotional support throughout the day...and when they feel themselves getting angry or upset, they know to reach for their oils. This helps them become very aware of their feelings and how their needs shift during the day. I love that they are empowered to take action on their own.  They also each have their own rollers for bedtime. 

Don't forget that all of these recipes also work perfectly in a diffuser (which is the perfect compliment to topical use for emotional support! Just use about half of the amount recommended. 
 

**All recipes are for created for 10ml rollerballs. Add the oils and then top rollerball off with fractionated coconut oil. Creating rollerballs is like creating the perfect entree or cocktail...each person will do it a little differently. Use these as starting points and find your perfect custom blend!**

Let It Go Blend
Serenity - 15 drops
Balance  - 15 drops

This is my girls' favorite blend...it was named after our favorite Disney movie! They use it primarily for meltdown mode. And I use it for my mommy meltdowns too. ;-) I LOVE this blend to support healthy sleep as well. This is the rollerball I made for a dear friend when she was going on a LONG roadtrip alone with 3 young kids. And she came back a total believer!

Soundly Sleeping Blend
Lavender - 5 drops
Bergamot - 5 drops
Cedarwood - 10 drops

I can't imagine our evening routine without oils! The smells of the oils create familiarity for them, and it allows me to have a really special connection time with each girl as I give them their foot and back massage with oils. We love to layer the effects and take a bath with these oils, and then diffuse them all night. 

Abundance Blend
Sandalwood - 5 drops
Ylang Ylang - 5 drops
Patchouli - 5 drops
Frankincense  - 5 drops
Vetiver - 2 drops

This blend does exactly what it says...it's SUPER calming and focusing and brings feelings of peace and presence in the moment. This is the perfect blend for prayer time and yoga practice!

Everyday Magic Blend
Frankincense - 10 drops
Melissa - 5 drops
Patchouli -5 drops

Oh my goodness. Only 3 oils...but boy does it pack a punch! Melissa is one of the most rare essential oils available...and it's benefits are powerful! It not only supports the immune system but it clears out feelings of overwhelm and hopelessness quickly. It's the oil of LIGHT and it helps to chase away those dark days. Frankincense is the KING of all the oils. It's perfect for spiritual enlightenment...as well as releasing anxious thoughts and feelings. And patchouli...oh patchouli. You'll notice that it's in LOTS of blends here! Happiness is Here Blend
Citrus bliss - 5 drops
Elevation - 5 drops
Frankincense - 5 drops
Peppermint - 3 drops
Patchouli - 3 drops

This blend is heavy on the CITRUS oils, which are immediately uplifting for the mood and spirit. Again, frank and patchouli...and then the addition of peppermint gives a nice little "kick". This blend is the perfect way to start your day! Because...HAPPINESS!

Peace Out Blend
Wild Orange - 5 drops
Frankincense - 5 drops
Cedar wood - 3 drops
Lavender - 3 drops

This blend is calming and uplifting at the same time! The cedarwood has a woodsy, earthy scent and is super grounding. The wild orange boosts mood and creates a sweetness to the blend. Frank and lavender are calming and help release anxious thoughts. Perfect blend for settling in for the evening. 

Mood Shifter Blend
Patchouli - 5 drops
Elevation - 5 drops
Cedarwood - 5 drops
Balance - 5 drops
Basil - 5 drops
Vetiver - 5 drops

This is a powerful blend...and it created to release feelings of anger and frustration. The basil in this blend supports the adrenals and helps to restore the body to it's natural rhythms of sleep, activity, and rest. We've talked about all of these other oils...so you can see how intensely CALMING this blend is! 

Sunshine Soother
Lavender - 10 drops
Helichrysum - 5 drops
Peppermint - 5 drops

Have you ever had a beautiful...LONG day in the sun? I know I have. It's times like these that I am SO thankful for essential oils. If I've had a lot of fun in the sun, I immediately put on this blend and it is so soothing! You can also put this blend in a spray bottle and it's an easy way to apply. 

Sexy Blend
Whisper - 10 drops
Passion - 5 drops

This blend can be worn as a perfume to enhance feelings of love and intimacy. Our Passion blend has the essential oil Damiana, which is well known for it's aphrodisiac properties. If your husband doesn't believe in essential oils now, he might after you wear this one! ;-)

 

The Bearded Lumberjack Blend
Patchouli - 5 drops
Sandalwood - 5 drops
Clary Sage - 5 drops
Frankincense - 5 drops
Cypress - 5 drops

Your man (bearded or not) will love this blend! Earthy and rugged with a hint of sweetness. He can use it IN his beard or as cologne. It has all the side benefits of peace, love, and happiness too :)

Make Your Toys Tempting

During this packing process, we have downsized our toy bin to a small basket. Woody is kind of wondering where all of his friends went...but as the lone cowboy in the room, he's happy to have Princess Anna's undivided attention.

This is what it looked like before the downsizing. Yes, that IS a life jacket. Now...I know this is not much compared to a whole toy room of toys, but it was a lot for us. We've never really had a dedicated toy room, so everything just gets tossed in a giant basket.

And it was NOT appealing. Who would look at this big pile of stuff and think...

"Hey!! Let's play!!"

Well, the dogs do. But that's beside the point. The girls would pass it by day after day and go on to something else...like tattooing themselves with Sharpies, or something equally as invigorating.

But the instant we downsized and displayed only a few toys...Emma sat right down and was enthralled! When it wasn't an overwhelming mess, she was drawn to the simplicity of choices. 

I do know all the secrets of toy bin rotation.  But it's never worked for us, mostly because we just don't have that many toys! I prefer to keep only what we are using right at that moment.  The majority of our "toys" are dress-up clothes and accessories...with a few puppets, instruments, baby dolls, a stroller, and the play kitchen.

When we move into our new house, there will be some major purging and re-organization of activity areas. I can't wait to get it all organized and have an AMAZING space that will inspire and bring the girls joy every day. We are planning on creating a dedicated art/sewing/play room right on the main level and I've been pinning some colorful and innovative ideas to get inspired!

Fighting for Joy: 5 Ways to Find Peace

This is what it looks like when I launch a new blog, finish an eBook, and move all in the same week. It's strange that the magical mess makers are conveniently missing from the photo. They're like ninjas.

At the end of the day, Matt swoops in like a knight in shining armor and has the entire thing gleaming in 15 minutes.  Oh how I love him! I breathe a weary sigh of relief and retreat to a quiet spot for a few minutes. Until the little tribe finds me. They always find me. 

But the funny thing is...when I am in the midst of the tornado of daily life and high heels are flying and dogs are chewing the heads off the toy goats...it's so difficult for me to remember that my knight is on his way. I forget that I have someone who saves the day. Every day.

Because my eyes are on the current crisis. 

It's similar to me & Jesus. During the hard days, I sometimes forget I have a savior who is ready and waiting to hear my cries...catching every tear. And believe me, there are tears. From mama and children. So much more now that we have THREE little loves. Three times the happiness, three times the feelings!

A few days ago I read this in Psalms 55:6-8

Oh, that I had the wings of a dove! I would fly away and be at rest.
I would flee far away and stay in the desert...

I would hurry to my place of shelter, far from the tempest and storm.

I can so relate to that. Wanting to fly away to a quiet place...to gather my thoughts. Because I'm desperate for peace.  

And when mama ain't peaceful...ain't nobody peaceful. Can I get a holla from my mama tribe?! You know what I'm talkin' about.

It's a war in my mind. I am fighting against discontentment, overwhelm, and fear. I know Jesus desires the BEST for me. But the enemy is busy busy busy whispering lies. Recently, the lies have been:

"You can't finish all you have set out to do."

"You aren't a good enough mother."

"See how messy your house is right now? You're a failure."

I feel those thoughts creeping in. But I know it's not Jesus. Because it's not TRUTH. What lies are you believing today? Pinpoint them. And fight.

Fight for JOY.

And when you find the truth, make a plan. Want some suggestions? Here are 5 ways to find peace in the midst of chaos.

Root down. 

Fill your mind with encouragement. Read scripture (Psalms are my favorite). Read inspiring words. Blogs you love. When your spirit is strong and bolstered...when your roots are planted DEEP into contentment and abundance, you are much more apt to handle the day with joy and ease. Preferably, this happens before the day begins. But at this season in my life, with kiddos in our bed who magically wake up when I leave...that isn't happening much. Squeeze it in whenever you can. Analyze your life for any joy-takers. News sites. Toxic people. Poisonous thoughts. And stop indulging.

Breathe deep.

Literally. Breathing is a huge stress reliever. I will often go all day without a deep cleansing breath. Add a few sun salutations while you're at it. During meltdowns of the little girl variety, I will hold them and remind them to breathe and will have them do it with me by mimicking my own breathing. Because when you are flipping out...you sometimes need help getting back down off the ledge. 

Fill up.  

Self-care is a buzz word that you hear a lot lately. But it's much more than a buzz word. It's essential to your sanity. Take a bath. Create art. Photography. Watch your favorite TV show. There is no one perfect way...everyone has their own unique way to re-focus and wind down. But the key is to MAKE TIME. Even just a 10 minute soak in a hot tub with a glass of wine will do wonders for you. Slap on some Spotify, throw in some Epsom salts, oils, and light candles. Insta-spa! If you haven't read this piece by MaryBeth Bonfiglio...do it now. It's powerful and reminds me to be IN MY BODY daily. **It does contain strong language and ideas that are breathtaking and beautiful but different than my own truth. And that is why I love her so. I enjoy considering and understanding other spiritual journeys. It bolsters my own walk and makes all of us real and lovely to each other.

Plan escape.

It's so important to take regular time away for just you. Schedule it. Protect it. Enjoy it with no guilt. My favorite mini-escape lately includes a coffee in my hand while thrifting and spring rolls eaten in my van in the parking lot (where it's quiet!). If it's feasible for you to take a weekend away...do it! I try to do it a couple times a year (lately with nursing baby in tow). Create a sacred space in your home that you can retreat to. Even if it's your nightstand with candles and books. Lay on your bed and ESCAPE. Or a closet with a pillow. You can make any space sacred in that moment.

Dance more. 

I'm a big fan if the mid-afternoon dance party. You cannot remain stressed to the max when you are moving your body! Whether it be hooping or dancing on the coffee table to Let It Go (any other Frozen fans in the house?!)...you will release the tension in your muscles. It's a good thing.  Music is a powerful mood enhancer! Turn it up! The louder the better. Make a soundtrack for your life! Bonus: Dancing also initiates laughter. Laughter is essential. Don't go a day without it.

Be intentional about fighting for your joy today. Do things that fill you up and bolster your spirit. Love YOURSELF...talk nice and allow yourself to rest. All while nourishing and caring for those around you.
